Symptoms

Depending on the wood species
used, natural timber extractives/
exudates may migrate to the surface
of the timber and stain the paint
system and/or adjacent surfaces
(eg. render).

Cause

  • Insufficiently degreased surface during pre-treatment
  • Timber not coated all round
  • Insufficient coating applied (particularly to end grains)

Solution

Remove all contaminants and redecorate affected area. Pay special attention to end grain.
