Sikkens: the right color

On a regular basis a new colour collection of 30 colours created by a famous architect or designer appears under this title. The immediate motivation for the collections was the year 2000 and the changing role of colour.

An enormous range of colours are available to the market, and with the addition of the spectrophotometer it is now possible to create almost any colour, making colour choice not so much a technical matter but more a question of vision and taste.

What then could be more interesting than asking top architects and designers to put together a small collection based on their vision, people with a wealth of international experience in the field of color application.  With this personal vision, we hope to add a new and interesting dimension to colour collections.

The first collection was created by the Italian architect and designer Alessandro Mendini in May 1997 in Utrecht.

In the Autumn of 1998 the second collection was created by the English architect Sir Norman Foster, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1999.

The third collection was created by Rem Koolhass, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2000.
